A Message from the Club President

The prime goal of my tenure as President is to re-vitalize the club membership.  We are an aged club and without a successful recruitment campaign, we will not exist in 10 years.

Thus far this year we have added two new facets to your club.  The first was the successful execution of the Schwenksville Halloween Parade.  This parade had been managed by the Lion's club which unfortunately folded in 2007.  We were most certainly helped by the weather in 2008, but the Parade was a fantastic success.  The attendance was by far the largest in the last 7 or 8 years that I've been involved with it.  Funding has been approved for 2009 and we look forward to another successful Parade.

300 Helium Balloons

And $385.00 of Prize monies

The other event that we co-sponsored in 2008 was the revival of the Battle-Axe Dinner, this was a club sponsored event, the community honoring high school senior football players.  It was held at the Bay Pony Inn and was result of the Methacton Football Boosters, The Perkiomen Valley Football Association, The Collegeville Rotary and Central Perkiomen Rotaries working together to honor some 34 Senior High School Football Players.  The Students and a parent were treated to a great meal and appreciation for the history of the Battle-Axe game which formely took place on Thanksgiving, was held November 8th this year with the Vikings of Perkiomen Valley bringing the trophy home for the first time in years.  The game was last played 17 years ago!

This year the Battle - Axe Game is on Friday the 13th of November and the Dinner is scheduled for Wednesday the 11th.   We are in the process of orgainizing a Golf Outing that will help finnace the expenses associated with the Dinner.

It is through these efforts and our continuing support of Baseball and the Central Perkiomen Youth Association that we hope to garner support for our club in new membership.

We need the support of the community to survive.
